Leptoptilos robustus or Flores Flightless Stork is an extinct species of stork
from the Flores
island chain in Indonesia
. It was 1.8 metres (5.9 ft) tall and weighed an estimated 16 kilograms (35.3 lb). Since the bones in the legs and body are very heavy, it is assumed that it rarely, if ever, flew.
