. The first recorded document to mention Levone dates back to 1197. Some historians say that the name "Levone" comes from "Leone" (Lion), first name of an ancient inhabitant who was a member of a local Roman family, but it seems more plausible that the name comes from the word "eva" which means water in the local Piedmontese
dialect. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 475 and an area of 5.4 km².
