Alexandra 'Lexie' MacDonald (née McTavish) is a fictional character in the BBC
TV series Monarch of the Glen. Lexie is played by Scottish actress Dawn Steele
.
In Series 1-3, Lexie is the housekeeper and chef at Glenbogle House. She considers Glenbogle her home and the MacDonald family her family after falling out with her own mother, Pamela Morton. She is reconclied with her mother when her mother books Glenbogle as a wedding venue to Eric Morton.
She is involved in a love triangle with Duncan McKay who loves her, but she loves Archie MacDonald
, while Archie loves Justine Thatcher
and then Katrina Finlay
. Although she loves Archie, she pushes Archie and Katrina together when they realise they're attracted to one another. When Katrina leaves Scotland to work in London, Lexie is supportive and Archie begins to rely on her. Archie eventually falls in love with her and they marry in series 4.
In Series 5 Lexie became Laird of Glenbogle after Archie leaves Glenbogle to climb a mountain in Nepal with his sister Lizzie MacDonald in honour of their father Hector
. Archie and Lexie moved to New Zealand in Series 6 to run a vineyard; however, Lexie is unhappy there and she returned to Glenbogle. She grows close to her husband's half brother, Paul Bowman who is now Laird. They kiss, but decide not to take their relationship any further. Lexie eventually returned to New Zealand and her husband.
