. Betty calls Cheryl Blossom who is living in Hollywood hoping to become a model and actress. In reality, after dropping out of school, her family cut her off and she is now working at a restaurant as a waitress. While Veronica & Archie play golf, Fred Mirth, Lodge's Strategic Partner, tells the two that with Pop's shop Mr. Lodge will control downtown block and "good-bye town square, Hello Mall!" At the reunion Archie makes the offer enraging Jughead, who tells Pop to fight, but Pop feels he is too old. A small fight starts and ends with "Marmaduke (Moose) Mason running for mayor of Riverdale!!"
Main Street Mangle: The story starts with Archie and Veronica going down Memory Lane and getting into an argument about Veronica's father. Betty is trying to call Veronica but cannot get through. Jughead and Reggie are having their own financial problems. Meanwhile, Moose is running his campaign for Mayor of Riverdale. Archie and Veronica try to make up but fall out even more. Nancy and Chuck are trying to sell comics during the recession. Betty still can't get through because Veronica has left her mobile in the office while taking a ride out with Reggie! The story ends with Archie getting suspicious about Mr.Lodge's plans and Betty leaving Riverdale."
state. Later at Sack's, there is news that all workers are to take a 10% pay cut. Later that night, Betty is stuck working late. At a sold out show, Archie meets Mr. Lodge in private to talk about Veronica. Veronica is not happy and unable to concentrate on her work as Executive of Lodge Industries. Hiram Lodge
makes a proposition to him: Leave Betty and make Veronica happy. Enraged by the proposition, Archie tells him to get out and to never show up in his life ever again. Back in Riverdale at Pop Tate's, Fred and Mary Andrews and Hal and Alice Cooper talk about the kids, Mr. Weatherbee and Miss Grundy walk in together, and Miss Grundy tells him the doctor had some tests and she is not fine. Waldo Weatherbee asks Geraldine Grundy to marry him
and she says yes. Back in New York after his fight with Hiram Lodge, Archie calls it a night and quits his music career. Archie finds a small cafe and comes face to face with Ambrose Pipps
, his best friend at the age of seven, who moved away when he was ten. The two old friends catch up, then Archie returns home to Betty. In the end, an adult Dilton Doiley, now a scientist looking in on the two and going to parallel universes, knows how life would be for Archie. Veronica later falls in love with Reggie.
Hiram Lodge makes life unbearably miserable for everyone that Archie cares about in revenge for Archie turning his orders down. He gets his revenge on them by attempting to crush the dreams of his friends. His manipulation of events nearly demolish the dreams of everyone. However, Archie realized that his life was with Betty, and nothing or the money that Lodge commanded could put an end to that. Even Veronica, upon realizing what happened, knew that her father had gone too far, and did what she could to get him to call off his war on her friends.
There is a triple wedding, Mr. Weatherbee and Miss Grundy; Mr. Svenson and Miss Beazly; and Jughead Jones and Midge Klump. Eventually, Miss Grundy has renal failure six weeks after the weddings, and passes away. With her death, Betty and Archie realized that they belong in Riverdale, and, upon that realization, Betty and Archie get jobs at their alma mater, as English and Music teachers respectively; and with the retirement of Mr. and Mrs. Svenson from their jobs as custodian and lunch room worker, respectively, Moose Mason and Bella Beazly take over.
