Cooney has embraced many causes such as breast cancer

. She also has a news section named Against All Odds, where she interviews people that channel 12 considers heroes due to certain circumstances. Just like she did before in Dallas, Cooney also become a local celebrity in Phoenix and her photo is often seen on billboards
