The Government of Victoria is delivered by a number of agencies, grouped under areas of portfolio responsibility. Each portfolio is led by a minister appointed from the Parliament of Victoria
.
The department directly employs more than 13,000 people and funds hospitals, aged care facilities, ambulance services, and community service agencies that collectively employ more than 80,000 people.
. These agencies can be divided into three main types - statutory offices, statutory authorities and independent transport safety agencies.
