This is a list of countries by proven oil reserves. Proved reserves are those quantities of petroleum which, by analysis of geological and engineering data, can be estimated with a high degree of confidence to be commercially recoverable from a given date forward, from known reservoirs and under current economic conditions.Several Oil Producers which are not considered to be countries (Eg the European Union, and The Arab league) are included in the list because they provide useful reference information and are included in some of the sources. These are not ranked in the charts here,
