. The Liga Paraguaya (Paraguayan League) is made of the División Profesional (also known as Primera División) which is the first division and comprises two tournaments per year: Torneo Apertura and Torneo Clausura, with 12 teams participating in both tournaments.
The second level is the Paraguayan Division Intermedia, where every year the top team is promoted to the First Division and the second best team plays a promotion playoff match.
