The song is about relationship trouble, describing a situation in which a couple is fighting and one partner says something out of anger that she later regrets, wanting her partner to return. "I guess we're really over", Simpson sings, but immediately afterwards she sings: "So come over, I'm not over it". Speaking about the song, Simpson said: "Every girl has gone through that situation.
