. The population was 955 at the 2000 census. In 1800 the southern half of the town was given as a land grant to Williams College
and in 1801 the northern half was given as a grant to Framingham Academy. Settlement occurred shortly thereafter, and the town was incorporated in 1856.

Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.84% of the population.
There were 371 households out of which 32.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.2% were married couples
living together, 4.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.4% were non-families. 20.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 2.93.
In the town the population was spread out with 23.6% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 25.0% from 25 to 44, 27.4% from 45 to 64, and 16.0% who were 65 years of age or older.
