The existing hospital building incorporates the Don Everett building (1975), Ron Dunbier House student and nursing accommodation (1979), Alex Grimson (1983), Health Services Building (1992), South Western Area Pathology Service (1993), Caroline Chisholm Centre for Women and Babies (1994), Cancer Therapy Centre (1995), Brain Injury Unit (1995), Clinical Building (1997) and Mental Health Unit (2005).
The Hospital became a principal teaching hospital
of UNSW
in 1989. In an agreement with UNSW, the University of Western Sydney
will also send a limited number of final year students to Liverpool Hospital commencing in 2011.
Medical Imaging suites (Incl numerous CT, MRI scanners etc) are situated near the department

Future Developments
In May 2006, the NSW Treasury announced plans to invest A$390m in redevelopment of Liverpool Hospital (Stage 2) which will see Liverpool Hospital become the largest public hospital in Australia. Construction is currently underway, with the new sections currently being furbished. This is due to finish late 2011.Trauma Services
Liverpool is a major Level 1 Trauma care hospital, receiving a majority of cases within the southwestern Sydney area health zone and occasionally outside. The emergency department located on the lower levels contain 6 high intensive trauma care rooms, as well as a paediatrics trauma room. All bays stocked with latest equipment.
