Llanrug is a large village

. It lies about 4 miles to the east of Caernarfon

. It is the largest populated village in the Arfon area of Gwynedd, Wales. The old name term of the village was initially Llanfihangel-y-Rug, derived from Eglwys Sant Mihangel which is just outside the village. It has a Welsh
-speaking community of roughly 80% and a population
of 2,500. The busy and sometimes dangerous A4086 road from Llanberis Pass
to Caernarfon
runs through the village.

, established some 100 years ago. Llanrug United have played their home games in Cae Eithin Duon since the early 1970s. During the 1980s and 1990s some scenes were filmed in Llanrug for locally-televised Welsh-speaking comedy football programme C'mon Midffild
