John Lloyd Huck is a retired chairman of the board of the pharmaceutical firm Merck & Co.
, a former Penn State trustee and a current member of the Grand Destiny Campaign's steering committee. In addition to being emeritus chairman of Merck & Company, he was also chairman of Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company
, and Nova Pharmaceuticals, and is also board president emeritus of Pennsylvania State University.
He is married to the former Dorothy Bertha Foehr. Both are 1943 Penn State graduates, and currently reside at The Village in State College, PA. The Hucks have donated over 40 million dollars to Penn State. The University's Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences is named for them. In 2000, John Lloyd Huck endowed the John Lloyd Huck Institute for Management Science Research at Royal Holloway University of London and the University of Reading in England.
