The final nominees in each of the categories – as well as the 11 industry-voted Most Outstanding awards – was announced at the 50 Years of Television Exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum
in Sydney
on 3 April.
In an historic first, the public then voted for their choice of the eight nominees (instead of five) for the Gold Logie via SMS
or a 1900 number, right up until the awards night.
There was also a new award - The Graham Kennedy
Award for Most Outstanding new talent. This award was presented by Graham Kennedy's close friend Noleine Brown.
The first International Guest Presenter to be announced was Joan Rivers
