London Buses route 195 is a Transport for London
contracted bus
route in London
, UK. The service is currently contracted to First Centrewest
.
between Hayes
North and Hayes Station; it then ran via Lady Margaret Road, Ruislip Road, Greenford
and Western Avenue, terminating at Perivale
Bideford Avenue where the Hoover Building
and Perivale Tesco
now is.
The route was extended from Hayes North to Charville Lane Estate in 1967 but was withdrawn the following year, being replaced by route 105.
It was re-introduced in 1971 to convert the 105 to one-person operation. Route 195 was diverted via Dormers Wells instead of the full length of Lady Margaret Road. It was re-routed to Ealing Hospital
in 1984.
From its introduction until the mid-1980s, the 195 was operated by London Transport
from the old Hanwell
garage (HL), originally using single-deck buses before being converted to double-deck operation with MCW Metrobus
es in 1980. In 1986, operation of the route passed on tender to Southall
-based London Buslines, using their former LT DMS-class Daimler Fleetline
double-deckers with yellow and brown skirt livery. The allocation was transferred back to Hanwell garage in 1991, now under the operation of the London Buses Limited
subsidiary Centrewest, and using midibus
es. When Hanwell was closed two years later, the allocation was transferred to Greenford garage (G).
Centrewest was privatised
in 1994, and acquired by FirstGroup in 1997, following which brand-new Dennis Dart
SLF/Marshall Capital
s were bought for routes 195, 282, E7 and E9.
In April 2003, Ealing Community Transport (ECT) gained the contract for the 195, using brand-new Dennis Dart
SLF 10.2m/Caetano Nimbus
es. However, the route continued to be operated from Greenford garage. On 19 April 2008, it was extended beyond Ealing Hospital to Brentford
County Court, via Hanwell and Boston Manor
, with the peak vehicle requirement increasing to 14.
On 14 March 2009, ECT returned its operating permit for the 195 to London Buses citing poor profitability and increased costs of operating the service. First Centrewest subsequently regained operation of the route on a temporary contract, still from Greenford garage, using Dart SLF/Marshalls as before as well as their own Dart SLF/Caetanos.
On 19 December 2009 it was announced that First would retain the 195 with 14 new 10.2m Alexander Dennis Enviro200 Darts, this new contract commencing on 17 April 2010.
On 13 November 2010, route 195 was transferred to Hayes (HS) garage.
