"Longing" is a song by X Japan

The first on August 1, 1995 and the second on December 11, 1995, the two distinct versions are entitled, "Togireta Melody" and "Setsubou no Yoru" respectively. The difference between the two is that "Togireta Melody" includes the instrumentation of Pata, Heath, Hide
, and Yoshiki (on both drums and piano). While "Setsubou no Yoru" only includes Toshi
's vocals and a symphony, and is much more melancholic than the other. The third track on "Setsubou no Yoru" is a version where, instead of Toshi singing, Yoshiki reads the lyrics, as one would a poem. "Longing ~Togireta Melody~" peaked at #1 on the Oricon
charts.
