Longo Caminho is the tenth studio album by Os Paralamas do Sucesso released in 2002
. The album was recorded after an accident that paralyzed the lead singer Herbert Vianna
, but the material is from before it.
Longo Caminho is mostly centered on the trio (Herbert, Bi Ribeiro
and João Barone
), with some participation of that band (horns, percussion and keyboards). Its musical bases were recorded at AR studios in Rio de Janeiro. It was voiced at Tweety studios at Vianna's house.
These big hits including O Calibre (a song critically about urban violence) and the ballads "Cuide Bem do Seu Amor" and "Seguindo Estrelas".
"Soldado da Paz" was recorded in Cidade Negra
's Acústico MTV (The Brazilian MTV Unplugged) so the version in Longo Caminho was an opposition with punk rock characteristic guitar played by Dado Villa-Lobos
(considered an honorary member who took part in Hey Na Na
and Acústico MTV with Paralamas). Other special attendings included Fito Páez
who played the organs in Flores e Espinhos (Flowers and Thorns)
Flores no Deserto (Flowers in the Desert) was ritten in honor of Marcelo Yuka, an ex-drummer of O Rappa
. The name of the final song Hinchley Pond a name of a farm in Lucy Needham Vianna's hometown, the wife of Herbert Vianna who died in an accident.
Amor em Vão (Tudo Passará) which was previously recorded by the singer Paulo Ricardo formerly of RPM
