Lotology is the hobby of collecting lottery tickets. While Lotologists collect all types of lottery tickets, the primary collectibles are "scratch off" lottery tickets.

- "SC" or "scratched" lottery tickets are the primary collectible. ~75% of lotologists collect and trade used lottery tickets.
- "SV" or "Sample-Void" lottery tickets are tickets that are printed by the lotteries for training or proofing purposes. ~10% of lotologists collect this type of ticket.
- "MT" or "Mint" tickets are regular lottery tickets that have not been scratched at all in any way. ~15% of lotologists collect mint tickets.
