club Parma A.C., but failed to break through in Italian football, so he returned to Argentina for a short time. He then played four seasons for Real Zaragoza
, where he scored the winning goal to win the Copa del Rey
against Real Madrid
. He then joined Atlético Madrid in 2005, in a fee of €4m.
On 30 June 2007, he was transferred to Greek club Olympiacos FC for a reported fee of €2.5m, while he signed a four year contract with an annual salary of 1.3 million.
On July 8, 2009 Luciano Galletti signed a contract extension which will keep him to Piraeus
till 2013. The new contract has a release clause fee of €15million.

In early February 2010 Galletti was diagnosed with severe kidney failure, causing him to miss out on all games for the rest of the season.
