History of the school includes separating from the old Lutheran High School in downtown Cleveland
(due to the construction of Interstate 90
) and separating into Lutheran High School West and Lutheran High School East
.
Recent expansions (completed in 2004) have more than doubled the physical size of the school.
Formally a member of the defunct Metropolitan Area Conference, Lutheran High School West is now a member of the Patriot Athletic Conference.
Ms. Lauren Thompson, a four year starter, has been honored with the award of Featured Player. She was quoted saying, "It was the biggest honor of my life...so much better than I went to nationals. My emotions were just flowing through me." She said she would like to thank her mom, dad, sisters, and her deceased gecko, Squirt.
Ms. Julie Beckman has had some issues with her knee during the soccer season but she is on the road to recovery.
The current Director of Bands is Mr. John Chamberlin. He has been the director since 2004 and oversees the Marching Band, Concert Band, Stage Band, and Pit Band.
Choir
The choir director is Mr. Ron Muth. He has been there since 2001 and oversees the choir programs which include Freshman Choir, Chorale, and Singers.
Drama
The Drama department is headed up by Ms. Caroline Pintner, who teaches German, math, and New Testament. The department puts on two major productions, one in the Fall and another in the Spring.
Dance Team
The Lariettes Dance Team is an extracurricular group affiliated with fine arts. Dance team members perform at home basketball games and compete annually. The team also hosts an annual kids dance clinic. Ms. Tamara Robinson has been the dance team coach since 2007.
