Lynn Archibald was the former men's basketball
coach
of the University of Utah
from 1983-1989. Archibald led the Utes to a 98-86 (.532) record before being fired after the 1989 season. Prior to Utah, Archibald was the head coach at Idaho State University
. After his career with Utah, Archibald became an assistant at Arizona State University
from 1989-1994, when he left the program to become an assistant coach, and later, the director of basketball operations for Brigham Young University
. Archibald died on May 28, 1997 after a long battle with prostate cancer. He was 52.
