s in Downtown
Miami, Florida
, United States
. When completed, it will contain five buildings over 600 feet (182.9 m) and each over 50 stories. The two tallest buildings in the complex have been approved by the city council and the Federal Aviation Administration
, and construction has not yet begun. The tallest building in the complex, the Lynx Central West Tower, will rise 746 feet (227.4 m) and 76 floors. Its floor total will match Met 3
and Brickell CitiCentre II
as the most in Miami. The Lynx Central East Tower, which will be located immediately adjacent to the Bank of America Tower
, will be 678 feet (206.7 m) tall with 70 floors. Both are expected to be completed in late 2009.
The complex, unlike other recent high-rise projects in Miami, will be built in the center of the Central Business District
, not near Biscayne Bay
. Because of this, it will be flanked by other skyscrapers on all sides and will not be a prominent point in the skyline when looking at Miami from the east, with the exception of the tops of the towers. The Bank of America Tower
and the Third Street Metro Station
will both be within a few blocks of the complex. The Lynx North West Tower, the Lynx South East Tower, and the Lynx South West Tower, which all will be over 600 ft (183 m) each, and over 50 floors each, will be built at the complex after the first two main towers are completed. Their exact dimensions will be released at a later date.
The complex is bordered by Southeast 3rd Avenue to the east, Southeast 1st Avenue to the west, Southeast 1st Street to the north, and State Road 970 to the south. The Central East tower will be used for Class A office space and residential condominium space, while the Central West tower will be used for residential, retail, and office space. The Lynx Square, a retail center at the base of the entire complex, connecting the towers, will also be built immediately after the first two towers, in conjunction with the South West Tower. The architects of the project are PEI Partnership Architects and Chad Oppenheim Architecture & Design. Both of the first two buildings in the complex will be ranked in the top thirteen on the list of tallest buildings in Miami.
