, sura 43, 77, Maalik tells the wicked who appeal to him that they must remain in Hell because "they abhorred the truth when the truth was brought to them." It is also noted that the Prophet Muhammed was taken to see heaven and hell and he saw Maalik and was shown a glimpse of the suffering of the people of hell. The description of Maalik found in the hadith is of a repulsive and scary looking man who lights a fire and runs around it. It is also noted that Maalik never laughs or smiles.
