Geography

Magam is a famous town in budgam district,it is also known as the gateway of gulmarg.Magam has about 60% shia Muslim population.It is among the large shia populated areas in J&K.Magam is situated on Srinagar Gulmarg road.Magam is the largest market place of budgam district,almost forward than the district headquarter and tehsils.Magam has a library (Idara Abul Fazal Abbas Islamic Library),which has been established in 1985.It is the largest islamic and private library in whole Jammu and Kashmir state.The Library has a huge collection of Islamic books,literature,C.D.Audio cassettes.The library also organises various programmes on islamic holy events.The library also help the poor and orphen people of the state and it is the biggest rich source of islamic knowledge in the state.
