Maggie studied Architecture at Melbourne University alongside her first husband, renowned landscape architect Robin Edmond. Maggie has been a member of the Deakin University Council since 1999, acting as Deputy Chancellor from 2004 until 2007. Maggie also sits as chairperson of Deakin University's Campus Planning Committee. She is the daughter of Melbourne Fashion designer Linda Suchestow, who ran the fashion label 'Linda Patricia.'
