Mai Shen
Encyclopedia
Mai Shen is a character from CrossGen Entertainment's Sigilverse
. She appeared in Scion
as a major enemy of the hero Prince Ethan
. Mai Shen is one of the self-styled gods called The First
; she is sent to monitor the Ethan, the Sigil-Bearer
. Mai Shen's real name among the gods of the First is Tsansuelle.
Mai Shen offers her services to the Raven Dynasty and they accept her as she seems to have a great deal of knowledge (not surprising as she is one of the First and can teleport at will). Not long after she arrives she transfers some of her power to Prince Bron
instead of monitoring Ethan or trying to sway him to the side of House Sinister. At roughly the same time another member of the First appears under the name Bernd Rechts and he offers his services to the Heron Dynasty.
In Scion #15, Mai Shen arranges a secret meeting with Bernd Rechts and tells him that her desire now is to rule the world through the Raven Dynasty. Then she kills Bernd Rechts in a display of raw power. Using her shape-changing ability she pretends to be Bernd Rechts and leads a portion of the Heron army into an ambush. Most of the Heron group is destroyed in the resulting battle.
While later posing as the Heron king Dane, she is exposed by Ethan and forced to revert to her normal form. The ensuing battle ends with Mai Shen dying at Ethan's hand.
