History

Major Figgas was founded in the Erie Ave area of Philadelphia by Gillie Da Kid and Abliva, who were friends from the neighborhood. They knew Bump J, Dutch and Rolx from all living in the same area, and eventually expanded after inducting Spade and Bianca. Chops, Rucie, L deniro and Dirty Rik all soon came aboard.

After releasing several underground tapes, they released the full-length Figgas 4 Life independently which landed them a deal with RuffNation Records

Venturing out in different endeavors since then they continue to come together on mixtapes and events. Gillie da Kid has recently attracted media attention from his disputes with Lil Wayne over songwriting, all while releasing several mixtapes with other artists from Major Figgas. "Frontin' like your daddy" is a song which outlines this beef and makes several disparaging claims towards Lil Wayne, Baby, and Cash Money Records. Gillie (GDK) is now arguably one of the most recognizable rappers from the North Philly area, and this group has been influential to Lil Wayne's style and lyrical content, as well as other notable rappers from Philadelphia such as Cassidy, Vinnie Paz, and Cyssero.
