Malbec released a self-produced full-length Dawn of Our Age in March 2008.
From December 2008 to April 2009, Malbec released a series of five EPs in five months, called the Answering Machine EPs. They wrote, recorded and released a new EP every month.
In 2010, they were featured on The Knux EP entitled "F@&k You" on the song "Fruits," which they co-wrote with The Knux.
They parted ways with their original drummer, Mark Pontius, in December 2009, but the rest of the band continued working on a new full length album in 2010. Mark Pontius went on to be in a band called, Foster The People
, which was nominated for MTV's VMA award for Best New Artist of 2011. The remaining members of Malbec decided to branch out on their own at the end of 2010 and are now all working on separate projects.
