. The title "Malegalalli madumagalu" translates to "the bride in the mountains"

The author discusses about social & economic conditions prevailed in the late 19th Century Male Nadu. The story revolves around a lot of characters of the then prevailing feudal system- Heggades/Gowdas (the landlords) and their slaves belonging to different castes at multiple locations with interlinking characters and their stories.

Its a high acclaimed and very popular novel of Kannada language which is often prescribed as the "must-reads".
