. The town is an interior town, centrally located in the county.
in 1805. The town was originally named Harison, after Richard Harison
who had purchased the land and founded the town. The name was changed in 1808 to Ezraville, after Ezra L'Hommedieu
; and in 1812 to Malone.
During the War of 1812
the village was sacked by the British.

In the town the population was spread out with 16.3% under the age of 18, 10.4% from 18 to 24, 42.1% from 25 to 44, 19.2% from 45 to 64, and 12.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 179.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 201.5 males.
