Geography

Markopoulo is situated between the Pineios valley and the plateau. The ravine is south of the village and the plateau is to the central and the northern parts and contains farmlands along with some forests, more farms mixed with forests lie to the south along with the Pineios River

Information

Markopoulo has approximately 5 to 6 km of paved roads and 15 km of gravel roads. Markopoulo also has approximately 6 to 8 km of hydro lines as well as phone lines.

Houses were stone-built until the 1950s and did not surpass modern-style homes until the 1980s. It was linked with pavement in the 1980s. Most of the homes are abandoned today.

Its main production are fruits including watermelon, melon, figs and vegetables including corn, tomatoes, potatoes, onions, cucumbers and others as well as dairy, livestock, olives and others. The majority of the population are based in other businesses as well as agriculture.
