Masha Rasputina – a Russian
pop singer
, known for her over-the-top, husky vocal style, fiery stage persona and flamboyant, somewhat controversial image with the emphasis on grotesque sexuality and crude, ‘common girl’ manners.
Since 1989 when she won Pyongyang-89 Pop & Rock Festival first prize and scored her first Russian hit Играй, музыкант ("Play, Music Man, Play"), Masha Rasputina has released eight studio albums and a series of highly successful singles and videos, including Roza Tchaynaya (2003), a duet with Philipp Kirkorov

In 1972, when Masha went to school, the boys unanimously elected her as their leader and all obeyed. After graduation in 1982, Masha Rasputina went to Moscow to enroll a theater school im.Schukina, but fate decreed otherwise. In one of Moscow's cultural centers a large enterprise was looking for a singer for a vocal ensemble. Masha failed finish singing her verses to the end, and became a soloist with VIA. From that moment a creative way began, but still she was an unknown girl from Siberia. Masha tried in different directions on her own: she studied at the conductor-choral department music school in the city of Tver, was a soloist in programs of a variety show in Moscow, Sochi. The arrival in Moscow abruptly changed the fate of Masha Rasputina. The first big success came with Masha in 1988, when she sang the song "Igrai, Muzykant" It was then she met Leonid Derbenyov.
The collaboration between Masha Rasputina and Derbenyov began in 1989 and continued until his death in 1995. This alliance gave memorable hits: "Otpustite menya v gimalaya", "Gorodskaya sumasshmedshaya", "Ya rodilas v Sibiri," "Na belom mersedese," "Ya i ty" and many other works!
The year of 1989 was special, Derbenyov wrote his first song for Masha. The same year she won the Grand Prix Festival of pop and rock music, Pyongyang - 89. From 1989 to 1999 she was the winner of the annual festival "Pesnya Goda" (Song of the year). The first record, created in conjunction with Derbenyov, published in 1991 and called it "Gorodskaya sumasshmedshaya". Just a year later, a second - "Ya rodilas v Sibirii". The song was born in the following circumstances. The next day after a joint meeting of the New Year Derbenyov saw Masha cleaning fish. Seeing how she is doing, Derbenyov made a remark: "The fish is not so clean." - "What's wrong?" Yes, but I was born in Siberia! " - Indignantly Masha. "And you, by chance, had not been beaten?" - Laughing asked Derbenyovv. "I was beaten," - she boldly replied. And just a few seconds later, Derbeneyov wrote the first lines of the future hit: "I was born in Siberia, with obstinate soul, and, as I am beaten, I grow large."
In 1990, Masha became the winner of the Grand Prix Festival of CIS "Only in Rock Girls". In 1994 Masha released the album "Siniy ponedelnichek" In 1995 the album "Ya byla na Venere" came out. 1998 saw the release of album "Ty menya ne budy". In 1999, Masha met her big love Victor Zakharov, but that did not prevent the 2000 release of a new album, "Potseluy menya pri vseh"
In 2000 Masha gave birth to daughter Maria Zakharova
In 2001 Masha released the album "Zhivi, Strana!".
In 2003 Masha made her triumphan comeback after a three-year long hiatus related to the birth of her daughter.
In the same year, the long awaited album "Roza chainaya" came out. It feaured four mega-hits in duo with Filipp Kirkorov; "Roza chainaya", "Mechta", "Dzhalma", and "Svadebniye tsvety". Still in co-operation they recorded a new song called "Proschay". Alla Pugacheva commented that Masha's vocally able to sing any song. Masha Rasputina - with her unique voice and image - with no similarity with outer pehonmenons in our musical lives - is a revelation of talented pop in today and tomorrow.
