In 2005 Spaeth again started every game, hauling in 26 catches for 333 yards and 4 TD's. He was named to the All-Big Ten First team.

Along with both an increase in catches and yards, Matt also played in the Super Bowl where he had one catch. The Steelers went on to win. In 2009, Matt had 5 catches for 25 yards and 1 touchdown.
