In the village the population was spread out with 30.0% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 31.2% from 25 to 44, 20.8% from 45 to 64, and 8.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females there were 92.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.5 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $158,241, and the median income for a family was $168,259. Males had a median income of $105,967 versus $84,647 for females. The per capita income

Although a rural village, Mattawan is home to many local area businesses and offices. The downtown area underwent a revitalization of sorts beginning in 2009. The original downtown area remains the same, but new construction has begun at the corner of Main Street and McGillen Ave. Recent additions to the area include a dry-cleaning business, coffee shop, computer repair store, nail salon, and pharmacy.
