Mayfield “Bull” Workman is a former American football
coach. He served as head coach at Arlington High School
from 1951–1962, guiding the school to its only state title to date, in 1951. Following his coaching career, he became athletic director of the Arlington Independent School District
— a post he held for 17 years before retiring in 1980. In that role he hired some of the most successful coaches in the district, including Lamar
's Eddy Peach.
Workman is the namesake of Mayfield Workman Junior High School in Arlington. In 1996, the Mayfield Workman Award was created, handed out annually to the best high school football player in the area.
