. During the Second World War its original population was expelled. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola

The local church, dedicated to Saint Anne
, was built on the top of the hill known as Lovski vrh to the north of the settlement. It is also a site of a prehistoric Iron Age
settlement. The pilgrimage church, a 16th century building that survived the Second World War, was demolished in 1953 or 1954.
