The Renegades have been described as representing the modern Melbourne which is vibrant, diverse and progressive. They have a healthy streak of anti-establishment and will also play at a non-traditional cricket venue, Etihad Stadium. As T20 is also the newest form of Cricket which is mostly about big hitting, Renegades have been described as a team specially made for it.

 page. It is currently nicknamed the "Cricketer from the year 2020" and its official name will be decided later. 2 other potential mascots were up for voting: "Renegade Knight" and "Mr Attitude" but the "cricketer" received the most number of votes and was declared as the official mascot.

The mascot has been described as the future of cricket. He comes from the year 2020 and wears industrial gear clad in corrugated shin pads and a futuristic helmet that hides his true identity.
