, and grade school for women. The grade school was eventually done away with, leaving the high school and college. In 1963, Mercyhurst Seminary opened a new building on East Grandview Boulevard, which became Mercyhurst Preparatory School. The college remained and became Mercyhurst College
. Mercyhurst Prep started admitting men in 1974. The boys' and girls' basketball teams won PIAA Championships in the same year, 1991. In 1993, the building was renovated

were built. Most recently in 2010, both the boys' and girls' soccer teams went to the PIAA Championship Game. The girl's soccer team was Region 5 Champions, District 10 Champions, and also PIAA 'AA' Champs. At the end of the season, the girls were ranked 1st in the state and 7th overall in the nation according to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's poll. Becca Costello set the state record with 44 assists in a single season. The boy's soccer team was runner-up in Region 3, District 10 champions, and PIAA 'A' State Runners-Up.
