History

Messingham has a history of sheep farming. The local steel works in Scunthorpe (Corus

) is known to have many of its employees living in Messingham. Village pubs are the Horn Inn, Green Tree Inn and Crown Inn on High Street and the Bird in the Barley on Northfield Road (A159). The parish church is dedicated to Holy Trinity.
