. In 1998 Butler led the nation in goals (19) in the United Soccer League D3 Professional League playing for the Western Mass Poineers, out of Ludlow Massachusetts. During his 4 years at the University of Massachusetts he held 3 separate career records in goals scored, assists and overall points. Butler was inducted in the Springfield Massachusetts High School Sports Hall of Fame, in November of 2009. He was one of 100 inaugural inductees selected from the 100 years spanning from 1900-2000.
