in the Munster final, both sides later met for a second time in the All-Ireland final. It was the first all-Munster football championship decider in the history of the GAA. The game, however, turned into an absolute rout and an embarrassment for Cork. A final score line of 3-13 to 1-9 gave Kerry a second consecutive All-Ireland title.
In 2008 Cork squared up to Kerry in the Munster final once again. At half-time the game looked lost for 'the Rebel's as they trailed by eight points, however, a goal by Cussen revived his side's fortunes. The final score of 1-16 to 1-11 gave Cork a remarkable victory and gave Cussen a coveted Munster

title. Both side later met again in the All-Ireland semi-final. Once again Cussen's side fell behind, however, they fought back to secure a draw and a replay the following week. That game was just as exciting as the others in the trilogy, however, Kerry were the victors on that occasion. 2009 saw Kerry defeat Cork in the All-Ireland final.
In 2010 Cussen switched codes and became a member of the Cork hurling panel.
