In late 2011, Dubie's name was reportedly used in an e-mail fraud scheme, where a Canadian woman sent $3,000 to someone in London, England claiming to be General Dubie. At least two other people in Taiwan and Germany reportedly responded to similar pleas from someone they believed to be General Dubie. General Dubie was reportedly "quite upset" about the incidents, writing on his FaceBook page, "I will never ask for money from anyone in cyberspace."
