Michael Gunther is a producer, director and writer.
Gunther started out in feature films after a career as a commercials director in Europe that spanned almost a decade, and included collaborations with Hollywood A-listers such as Academy Award winning DP Russell Boyd
(Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World
, Liar Liar
). He later turned his sights to documentary and feature films and started producing TV documentaries with his own company, among them a portrait of acclaimed painter Hans Falk, and a harrowing account of the devastating 1999 earthquake in Turkey. He wrote and directed his first feature film, The Honeytrap
, starring acclaimed British actress Emily Lloyd
in 2002.
He went on to produce a number of New York
based indie features and prize winning shorts, working, amongst others, with Lisa Ray
and Deborah Harry
