on July 22. He was called-up by New York on August 8. In his first game, he hit an RBI double against San Diego to bring the Mets closer to what would end up being a come-from-behind victory for the Mets.
On September 28, 2011, the final game of the Mets' season, Baxter hit his first career major league home run. It gave the Mets a 3-0 lead, and was the last home run and RBI of the season for the Mets.
