. MPHS, unlike the three other district schools, is located south of Rt. 25A. Miller Place High School is the only building of the Miller Place Union Free School District not on the original property.

The school is known for being the home of the Miller Place High School Panthers badminton

 team, a group that remained undefeated for 504 straight games from 1973 until the streak's end on April, 2005 against Smithtown High School. The team was undefeated under coach Pat McCarrick's 25 year's leading the team, and had only a single loss in the ten years following her 1997 retirement. Currently the school's record is 534 wins and 9 losses, five losses to the Smithtown High School team and four to Half Hollow Hills. In the 2008 season Miller Place High School was undefeated until the boys badminton championship, where they lost to Half Hollow Hills. This ended the school's string of 35 consecutive county championships.

 Team (Team 514) has recently gained notoriety. In less than a decade, the team has managed to win a number of awards, among them several in the SBPLI (School-Business Partnerships of Long Island) Long Island Regional event (including champion, finalist, sportsmanship, rookie, chairman's, and judge's honors, among others) The team also won a championship participation award at the Deer Park Invitational in 2005. The Robotics Team made two consecutive trips to the World Championship Event in Atlanta

Because Miller Place High School does not have a wood or metal shop any longer (due to their conversion into chemistry labs), the team meets at the North Country Road Middle School to construct their robots.
