The CDP is composed of the two hamlets of Mineville and Witherbee. They are located in the northern part of Moriah, northwest of Port Henry
.

The CDP is located mostly between County Roads 7 and 70 at the junction of County Road 6.

There were 609 households out of which 26.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.3% were married couples
living together, 11.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.8% were non-families. 28.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.87.
In the CDP the population was spread out with 18.8% under the age of 18, 13.3% from 18 to 24, 32.4% from 25 to 44, 20.5% from 45 to 64, and 14.9% who were 65 years of age or older.
