List of ministers
The ministry in its current form came into existence in 2003 in the Cabinet of Ivo Sanader I, resulting from the merger of the earlier Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare. Both ministries had been originally formed in 1990, although they had changed forms and names several times during the 1990s. Below are lists of ministers of who headed both portfolios before the 2003 merger.Ministers of Social Welfare (1990–2003)
- From May 1990 to March 1991 the ministry in charge of social welfare was called Ministry of Labour, Veteran and Disability Issues (Ministarstvo rada, boračkih i invalidskih pitanja) and was headed by Marin Črnja.
- In March 1991 the ministry was renamed Ministry of Labour, Social Welfare and Family (Ministarstvo rada, socijalne skrbi i obitelji) and Bernardo Jurlina was appointed head of the renamed ministry.
- In the Cabinet of Nikica Valentić which was inaugurated in April 1993 the ministry's name was shortened to Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare.
