Comeback

Aoi quickly became a popular star of adult video, image video, photo books, and magazine appearances. However, even after her success, she retained her ambivalent attitude towards the AV profession, saying "I still can't get used to shooting in front of a camera though. There are some that enjoy it or get turned on by it, but I still get nervous even after fifteen tapes. There are times when I ponder about running out." She retired from the AV industry briefly in 2000 but returned in March 2001 in the video Minori Aoi - Underground Job. The AV had Aoi playing the role of a room service maid. Her second come-back video, Confinement (April 2001), was in the bondage genre. Up to this point in her career, Aoi had appeared mainly with the Cosmos Plan label. In June 2001, she released her first video under the Try-Heart Corporation
