mio TV is a 24-hours pay-TV service, introduced by SingTel
. It is transmitted through the company's SingNet
broadband network via an IPTV
service and uses Microsoft
Mediaroom as its end to end software platform. It is a service that will allow multimedia content - including broadcast channels and on-demand
programmes - to be viewed on any television
set. The IPTV
service utilises IP set-top box
es (STBs), connected over SingTel exStream optical fibers and existing SingTel telephone lines in homes.
mio TV, standing for mORE iN oNE is SingTel's integrated gateway for home users upon which the company is delivering multiple Internet-based communication services.
mio TV was launched commercially on 1 January 2007 and began its services on 1 January 2007.
On 1 March 2010, MIO TV suffered a breakdown in service affecting 20000 MIO TV subscribers (6 percent of the subscriber base).
On 3 October 2011, MIO TV now has a new interface upgraded to black and there is a new version(1.6.25310.137) firmware for mio TV and it is batch by batch.
On 31 October 2011, Mei Ah Drama, Taiwan Central, Korean/Hong Kong Mei Ah Drama On Demand, Taiwan Mei Ah Drama on demand will stop broadcasting on mio TV Service
, blockbuster movies as well as a Cantonese movie channel. It also offers HDTV channels. SingTel mio TV has been awarded the coveted media rights to the UEFA Champions League
and UEFA Europa League 2009-2012. In addition, SingTel have won the rights to air Barclays Premier League matches across its platforms and the 2010 Football League Cup Final
