. Mirae Asset was founded by Hyeon Joo Park in 1997 and introduced the very first mutual funds to Korean retail investors in 1998.
Mirae Asset Global Investments Group
Mirae Asset Global Investments Group is the asset management arm of Mirae Asset Financial Group. It is one of the largest investors in emerging market equities. With around 550 employees, including more than 190 dedicated investment professionals (as of 30 June 2011), Mirae Asset Global Investments Group has a presence in Hong Kong, China, Korea, India, Vietnam, Taiwan, Brazil, the United Kingdom and the United States. Mirae Asset Global Investments Group manages over US$53 billion in assets globally (as of 30 June 2011).

in 2002. Numerous awards and honors have been bestowed on Chairman Park such as “The most respectable CEO in 2008” by the Korea Management Association and “The leading CEO in Korea’s Financial Industry in 2008” by the Maeil Economic Daily.

Mr. Hyeon Joo Park is the founder and Chairman of Mirae Asset Financial Group. He had the vision to establish the Group in 1997 amidst the Asian Financial crisis and was the first to launch retail mutual funds in South Korea in 1998.
